Workplace Needs Assessment

If you’re interested in a Workplace Needs Assessment, we’ve included all of the essential information below.

How Much Does A Workplace Needs Assessment Cost?

The cost for the assessment to the employer is £395 +VAT.

In addition, there are additional costs involved for the assistive software and equipment. The costs for this will vary depending on the employee’s needs.

Why Workplace Needs Assessments Are Important

A critical first step is to ensure that your neurodivergent or impaired employees receive the workplace adjustments they require to help minimise barriers to their job role and become as efficient, successful, and confident as possible.

Employers and managers may struggle to understand what resources are available to them and the most effective changes to make for neurodivergent and disabled staff.

It is important to ensure that your disabled or neurodivergent staff can function to the best of their abilities.

It also helps businesses understand what reasonable adjustments can be implemented and how to best serve their employee(s).

The Workplace Needs Assessment is customised to each individual; there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all solution. For a change to be effective, it must also be advantageous to the business.

Workplace Needs Assessments are also required for businesses to meet their legal obligations to employees with disabilities, such as long-term health problems, mental health problems, neurodiverse, sensory difficulties, and physical impairments (Equality Act 2010).

The benefits of providing Workplace Needs Assessments include:

  • Reduced absenteeism
  • Higher productivity
  • Greater recruitment and retention numbers

As an individual, if you have a disability that is affecting your ability to carry out your job responsibilities effectively, you can request a Workplace Needs Assessment.

What To Expect From A Workplace Needs Assessment

The assessment process consists of:

Pre-assessment: This is a questionnaire for the employee and line manager to gain details of the individual’s job role and difficulties.

Assessment: We will visit your workplace, where a relaxed chat will take place with an experienced needs assessor. Building from the pre-assessment form, more detail will be uncovered as to the individual strengths, challenges, working environment, and practices.

Report: We give detailed recommendations for reasonable adjustments, which may include:

  • Assistive equipment and software
  • Training
  • Coaching
  • Adjustments to working practices and processes (where required)

Support: We will then assist both the company and the employee during the entire adjustment process by providing:

  • Assistive technology and training
  • Advice and direction during the adjustment period
  • Customer assistance and technical support
